Mobile phones sold in India must be registered under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme, and the registration number should appear on the packaging and in the device information. Jio, Airtel and Vi. Jio's VoLTE-only architecture makes it the hard compatibility test: if a model is reported working on Jio, it will generally work everywhere else in India.

- Identify the seller of record on the listing, and confirm whether they are based in India.
- Check the model's band list against the bands above, not against the marketing copy.
- Confirm the unit is the international variant and carries BIS approval.
- Find the returns window and the return address. A return address in China is a warranty you will not use.
